Frazer, John L.
News was received here Thursday morning of the death of Mr. John L. Frazier[sic], which sad event occurred at the family residence that morning at Yoakum (to which city he and his estimable wife recently removed), after a comparativly[sic] brief illness. Mr. Frazier[sic] was an old citizen of this county and deservedly popular among all classes; his unfailing good humor, integrity of character, and all those attributes which go to make up the true gentleman, making him an ever-welcome companion. He was one of the bravest of Confederate soldiers, and served his country and flag faithfully and well during that long and bloody struggle. He was a member of he Masonic fraternity, and under the auspices of that order was laid to rest in the Odd Fellows’ cemetery at Weimar this (Friday) morning at 11 o’clock, a large crowd from this city and neighboring points witnessing the last sad rites. He leaves a devoted wife and several children, to whom our sincere and heartfelt sympathy is extended. We hope in our next issue to publish a sketch of Mr. Frazier’s life.
Weimar Mercury, February 8, 1902
A friend has furnished us with the following biography of the late Mr. John L. Frazer: He was the youngest son of James and Catherine Turner Leavel Frazer; born in or near the town of Stanford, Lincoln county, Kentucky, on the 19th of September, 1838; reared in the same town until 1852, when his father came to Texas; his father’s family first settled in Washington county; from there moved to Fayette county, since and before he married he always remained near enough to his father’s old home to see him often, except the four years that he was in the army of the Southern Confederacy, which cause he served as gallantly and faithfully as any soldier could; he was a member of Waul’s Legion; he was baptized by Rev. Henry Thomas of Austin into the Christian church in 1858 near the little burg of Old Lyons, Fayette county; he never forsook the fold; his favorite recreation was hunting and fishing; even when a boy if he ever went to a party or danced a step it was not known; he was a true brother to his widowed sisters and loved them dearly; he risked his own life more than once to save a friend or relative; was married in 1866 to Miss Fannie Parks of Lavaca county, near what is now known as Hackberry; was a rock mason by trade; he joined the Masonic fraternity at an early age, became a member of the old Schulenburg lodge, his father being a charter member of said lodge. He was a good, true man, and his place in the hearts of loved relatives and friends will never be filled.

AMES MILTON FRAZER:
Frazer, James Milton
Friends ot the family were greatly pained Thursday of last week to learn of the death of Mr. James Frazer, which occurred at Runge that day at 4 p. rn., after a lingering illness of many months, of consumption. The body was brought here Friday for interment and laid to rest in the Odd Fellows' cemetery, under the auspices ot the Woodmen of the World lodge, he being a member of many years standing In the Oakland camp. Mr. Frazer was about 35 years old, a son of the late Captain John and Mrs. Fannie Frazer, and a man who possessed many strong friends whereever[sic] known, He was prospering when he became possessed of the knowledge ot the serious complaint, and after that time spent his entire time seeking to find some spot or remedy for same, but all hi!s efforts were futile. At times he was encouraged to believe that a recovery was possible but along toward the last he gave up all hope and resigned himself to the worst. He was naturally of a cheery disposition, and being a descendant of an old and honored family was the possessor of a large circle of friends, who sincerely deplore his untimely death, He leaves a widow and seven children, to whom the sincere and heartfelt sympathy of the Mercury is extended.
